Shall we dance ?

The Great Waltz is your chance to be part of history, to say "I was there, I made that dream a reality".

At around about 9pm on Saturday night the Great Waltz will join all Tea loving Party goers together as we attempt to break the world record for the largest coupled waltz. The current record stands at 315 couples, so we want to beat that and get at least 500 couples  waltzing.

The very same school that taught Patrick to Swayze and his friends to dance so dirty all those years ago, will be getting Flamjangled and sharing their fancy stepping footwork for all to see.  The Arthur Murray School of Dance will be in attendance this year and promise to give everyone some tips on how to get down like it's 1698 boyeee, woord!

So have no fear the professionals are here and all of us who have never clasped a hand, squeezed a shoulder-blade and trotted off in time to a three beat will finally have the opportunity to grab our partner by the hand and step it out like a pro.

Dancing tips on the Tea Garden Stage just before The Great Waltz, plus during the day by the Market stage.

In the mean time here are some online lessons to get you primed ::

Learn some Steps (Step by Step guide)

Watch how it's done (youtube video)

And remember friends, it's a waltz, so dress nice!

Clean and Green

The only time it's good to feel green is when we are talking the environment, and as with all Good Times gatherings the utmost is done to ensure a planet friendly event.

One positive thing we like doing is using cups and what-nots from our friends at Green Home who are South Africa’s leading biodegradable food packaging supplier. They offer a wide selection of biodegradable food packaging items and all of their products are made from natural and renewable resources and are 100% biodegradable and compostable!  In fact we have a vege-garden on a farm near Riebeek Kasteel thats full of decomposing cups from our last shindig, genius!

Our steadfast cleaning and recycling team are always on the case making sure paper, plastic, glass, metal and organic waste all find their correct place of rest or re-invention, while our flyers and posters are printed on sustainably manufactured Sappi Triple Green and all inks used are made from lime mixed with magic moondrops that have fallen to earth in the last three months, so they had to be cleaned up anyway.. actually that last bit about the ink is rubbish.. I made it up..

Just say kNOw

LEAVE NO TRACE!!!

Lets keep it tidy people.  The ground is not an ashtray, and any piece of something that lands on the ground comes from somebody’s hand, so pretty PLEASE let it not be YOU.

STRICTLY NO
Glass bottles (this will be enforced), under 18’s (ID on request), fires, domestic animals, independent sound systems, illegal substances.

1. Absolutely No Fires!
We hate being serious, but seriously guys, any moron who thinks making a fire at a big event during peak fire-season is alright deserves to be cooked upon an open fire themselves.
2. No Dogs (or other pets) allowed
as much as we love em, it just is not fair on them or other party goers.
3. No Littering, No Glass!
There will be plenty of bins on site – please use them. Glass will not be allowed at the event, so please remember to bring your drinks in plastic containers.  Promotional flyers will also not be allowed except at the entrance upon arrival and exit. (Please contact us if you are Promoter and wish to advertise at the event)
4. No Butts!!
This is very important – please don’t throw them on the ground – if you have a pocket ashtray from Origin 2009/2010 or Earthdance 2009 please bring it along and use it!
5. No ‘business’ or loo paper in the bush!
This is also really important. We are making a special effort to provide sufficient toilets and to keep them clean for you.
6. Don’t pollute the water with grease or soap!
Rinse off in the dam, and when you feel you need a real wash, please use the showers.

Upon Arrival
When you arrive, please drive slowly along the access road without stopping until you reach the ticket station, stay on the road, please park where you are asked to park and camp only within the designated festival area and don’t remove or damage any plants, animals or natural objects.

..and here is that legal bit where we kindly ask you to look after yourself as best as possible:
The organisers accept no responsibility whatsoever for injury, death, loss or damage of any nature to persons, vehicles, and belongings. This applies even to negligence by the organisers of any kind. Entry is entirely at your own risk. Right of admission is reserved.
